Family Pictures

Having family pictures taken is a little bit of an obsession to me. I love looking back on pictures we have had taken over the years and seeing how much we have changed. My husband, not so much a fan of family photos! He knows that at LEAST once a year we will have some kind of pictures taken and he's just learned to deal with it : ) This Saturday (October 29) we had an appointment with a photographer to have our pictures for Christmas cards. When I made the appointment little did I know it was the day of the Georgia/Florida game (at the same time as our pictures) and apparently the best time of day for hunting...oops! Kerry was not the happiest person in the world, but he went (not that he had much of a choice ; )..)and I am so thankful that he did! Here is a preview of the pictures that we had taken.

Wine Fest

Sunday, After I ran the half-marathon I went to the Watkinsville Wine fest with my friend Mandi. There were vendors from different wineries around Georgia and also food vendors from some of my favorite restaurants in Athens. Each restaurant or winery had their "specialty" to sample (which was more like a full serving) and they gave coupons for their restaurant. We had so much fun and this was just what I needed after running 13.1 miles : )

I DID IT!

I completed my first half-marathon and I survived! I could have never imagined just how much fun I would have running 13. 1 miles. I set a goal for myself of 2 hours 35 minutes (which to me was going to be a challenge, because I'm not a fast runner) and I made it!! My official finishing time was 2 hours 32 minutes!! I probably walked the last 1/4 mile because the hill was brutal!! (I'm so glad it was towards the end).Throughout the run there were people lined up on the street cheering for everyone and that was so motivating and really kept me going until the end!
On Saturday at the Health Expo I met a lady that has been a runner for quite some time and gave me her advice for running "Eat a bite size snicker every 20 minutes as you are running" sounded pretty CrAzY to me, but I did it and I think it worked great! : ) I am so glad that I was talked into running a half-marathon! This will most definitely NOT be my last!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

On Thursday we finally went to the pumpkin patch in Watkinsville. Since we went on a weekday they unfortunately didn't have any of the other fun things going on (petting zoo, corn maze, pig races etc.) but, we still had fun choosing our pumpkins. I think it was the coldest it has been so far this Fall so we were quick to make our choices. Here are a few pictures from our visit to Washington Farms

Walker picked out a 29 lb. Pumpkin!!!

On my way to 13.1

I have been training for a half-marathon on and off for almost a year now. I am so excited that in just a few days I will be running my very first half!! I am setting a really big goal for myself (well a big goal for me, considering I don't run fast) of 2 hours and 35 minutes!! I have never actually ran an entire 13.1 miles, but I have come pretty close. So we will see : )
Until this past weekend (October 15 to be exact) I had NEVER even ran a 5k or any race at all for that matter! I had friends that kept telling me I should probably run a least 1 race before I do the half-marathon so that I could get the feel of what it's like to run in that environment. I ran in the Scarecrow run in Watkinsville with my friend Carla and I finished the 3.1 miles in 31.50 minutes. I unfortunately didn't get any pictures, but I am hoping that I remember to get a few this Sunday before and after the half-marathon. I am nervous, but so excited and hope that I can just make it through! : )

The Kaolin Festival

I took Carson and Walker to the Kaolin Festival this past Saturday. I thought there would have been a lot for them to do, but mainly it was just a parade. No doubt they still had so much fun. We got to see my mom (their Mimi) and my grandparents which is always exciting. Their favorite part of the parade was getting candy that people would throw from the floats, they could have cared less about the actual things going on in the parade. We walked downtown after the parade to look at some of the booths that were set up (mostly food vendors), there were a few bounce houses and the boys always like to do those. Here are just a few pictures from our fun Saturday.
It's hard to get them interested enough to get a picture

T-Ball Fun

Carson had his first official T-ball game on Monday and he did so good! They are all so cute at this age. I'm not really sure that any of them know what is going on, but they are precious just being in their uniforms and standing around playing in the dirt. : )
